Community Service

Community service is one of the graduation requirements that Georgetown Technical High School considers of utmost importance; we strongly believe in teaching our students to give back to our community and at the same time help them realize that it takes everyone to move our community forward. Hence, one of our core values is building a sense of responsibility towards the community by taking leadership roles. Please note that community service is unpaid voluntary activities that occur after school hours, weekends or even during vacations. Furthermore, community service is not Working Experience.

In an effort to avoid overburdening our students in fourth form, the forty hours of community service must be completed in third form within the months of September  –January .

We require students to receive prior approval for service activities from a local non-governmental or non-profit organization (examples: Churches, Village Council, Schools, Health Centres, Recognized Youth Groups, Rotary, Red Cross, Belize Humane Society, Southern Environmental Association, Women’s Group etc.) within their community.

Supervisors are asked to kindly complete and forward the Community Service Confirmation Form at the end of student’s community service.  Kindly use the Community Service Record Sheet to record the attitude of the student, type of community service, date and number of community service sessions along with the time completed at each session.

If you have any questions about our Community Service program, please feel free to contact Ms. Natali Keme or Mr. Modesto Chiac during normal working hours.
